Outgoing Ri-Bhoi DC gets warm farewell

NONGPOH, Jan 25: Outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, Rosetta Mary Kurbah, received a warm farewell from the people of the district, who were grateful for the services rendered by her during her posting as the DC. A farewell programme was organised at Circuit House, Nongpoh, in this regard.
RM Kurbah is set to take over as Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Health and Family Welfare department.
The programme was convened by the Secretary of Nongpoh Town Committee, Rayonald Kharkamni, along with media persons from Ri-Bhoi.
In what was dubbed as unique, the outgoing DC was accorded with immense love and gratitude for the dedicated and selfless services rendered in the interest of the people of Ri-Bhoi, particularly in the fight against the pandemic.
Prominent leaders of the district including the traditional head of Elaka Nongpoh, Pa’iem Wanphrang Syiem Nongshai, Chairman of Nongpoh Town Committee, CB Syiem, Chairman of Umsning Town Durbar, Rocky Kylla, besides leaders of prominent pressure groups and Parish Priest of Nongpoh Parish, Fr Augustine Kottala, the in-charge of the Presbyterian Church Nongpoh, Rev CS Klein, were among those that attended the farewell programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of the district expressed their gratitude to Rosetta Mary Kurbah while describing her as the most-adored Deputy Commissioner and officer of the district. It was said that despite being a high-ranking official in the district, Kurbah’s humility and connection with the people of the district was something well-known to one and all, even across the state.
The leaders have urged other officers to follow in the footsteps of Kurbah and do what is best for the people.
Pressure group leaders, on the other hand, lamented the transfer of the RM Kurbah, stating that it is a great loss to the people, even as they lauded her for the efforts.
In her speech, outgoing DC, RM Kurbah, thanked the leaders and the people for the words of encouragement and the cooperation and support from different groups and traditional institutions.
She went on to add that during her service tenure as the DC, she has had the best time toiling for the betterment of the people and the district, and made good memories.
Gifts were also handed over to Kurbah on the day.
