SHILLONG, Feb 1: New Friends Union (NFU) and Royal CC registered comprehensive victories in their respective Shillong Cricket Association Super Division matches, here on Tuesday.
In the match, NFU won the toss and fielded first against Langsning XI CC, bowling them out for a mere 71 in 21.2 overs. Aside from Larry Warjiri (27) and Sanvert Bernard Kurkalang (21), none of the other batters could get going. Player-of-the-Match Raj Biswa claimed figures of 3/2 from 3 overs while Cham Cham Sangma took 3/15 in 5.2 overs.
NFU got off to a blistering start before finishing at 72/2 in 10.4overs. Raj shone with the bat too, scoring 29 runs off 19 balls while Purajit Mandal was unbeaten on 19. Ronnie Nongrum took 2/14.
Later, Royal CC batted first against Sputnik CC and posted 191/7 in 40 overs. Swastic Chettri top-scored with 45 while Player-of-the-Match Sikander Kumar made 44. Aryan Borah took 3/32.
Sputnik could only manage 114 before being bowled out in 27.5 overs. Md Nafees Siddique scored 18. Sikander excelled with the ball too, taking 3/9 from 7 overs while Abhishek Kumar finished figures of 3/27 from 8 overs.
