Keegan Petersen tests positive, to miss NZ series
Johannesburg, Feb 2: Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday confirmed that Keegan Petersen will miss the tour of New Zealand after testing positive for COVID-19. “The number three batter is well and asymptomatic. Cricket South Africa’s medical team will keep in close contact with him to ensure his physical and mental well-being,” CSA said in an official statement. Six-Gun Grill Western Province batsman, Zubayr Hamza, will replace him for the tour. (ANI)

90 cricketers to play in Bengal Women’s T20 Blast
Kolkata, Feb 2: The inaugural edition of Bengal Women’s T20 Blast presented by the Cricket Association of Bengal, saw 90 talented women’s cricketers from different age groups being picked into six teams at players’ draft process on Wednesday at Eden Gardens. The first-ever players’ draft for Women’s cricket got off to a classy start with CAB president Avishek Dalmiya delivering the inaugural address with representatives from the respective teams being present at a glitzy affair. The six clubs participating in the tournament are- East Bengal, Rajasthan Club, Md Sporting, Town, Aryan, and Kalighat Club. (ANI)

SL’s Lakmal to retire from int’l cricket after India tour
Colombo, Feb 2: Former Sri Lanka Test captain Suranga Lakmal has informed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that he will retire from all forms of International Cricket following the completion of the upcoming tour of India 2022. “I’m indebted to Sri Lanka Cricket for giving me this astonishing opportunity and having faith in me to bring back my motherland honour as it has been absolute pleasure to be associated with the board that shaped my professional life and also enriched my personal development,” said Lakmal in his retirement letter submitted to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
