Shillong, Feb 3: The repair work of the Sonapur Bridge connecting Meghalaya with Assam is expected to be completed within 45 days.
Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge of PWD (Roads), Prestone Tynsong informed that bridge repair work had been started in full swing.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said the question of constructing a new bridge does not arise as the bridge only needs repair.
Tynsong also said that the burden on the Umiam bridge will be lessened once the Western bypass is completed, adding that land acquisition is underway
