SHILLONG, Feb 3: In a significant development in the Police Bazar IED blast case, intelligence sources have revealed that during interrogation of those arrested the name of a prominent pressure group has emerged for possible complicity with subversive activities.
Sources said that further follow up investigation will confirm the worst fear.
According to the sources, the three persons who were arrested on Wednesday have been identified as employees of BJ Bakery in Lummawrie, Laitumkhrah. One of them has been confirmed as a drug addict.
It was also informed that the three had gone and collected the detonators for the IED from a unit of the pressure group from Nongkya village in Umsning Block under Ri-Bhoi District. They revealed the information during their interrogation, the sources informed.
When contacted, the owner of the bakery dismissed the information as rumours.
East Khasi Hills Police, on the other hand, refused to comment on the information provided by the sources. Police officials from Ri-Bhoi also refused to comment stating that the case is being investigated from Shillong.
