DC asks families, kin of COVID victims to avail ex gratia

SHILLONG, Feb 4: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has asked the families or kin of the COVID-19 victims, fulfilling various government criteria, to come forward and avail the one-time ex gratia of Rs. 50,000 per deceased person.
In a statement, the DC said that the ex gratia will be provided to families/kin of the deceased persons who have succumbed to COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills with effect from 2020.
“The concerned families who wish to claim the benefit are to submit their claims through a form issued by the District Disaster Management Authority/Relief Rehabilitation Branch, East Khasi Hills District along with other documents, viz. a) death certificate from competent authority that certifies the cause of death to be COVID-19. b) Bank details,” the statement read.
“Family/next of kin of people who have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills district may thereafter approach the office of their respective BDOs/Incident Commanders of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills (Relief & Rehabilitation) for claiming of ex gratia payment,” it added.
It may be mentioned that all concerned have been asked to download the form for claim from eastkhasihills.gov.in or Office of the Deputy Commissioner/Office of the concerned BDO, East Khasi Hills.
