Prog for fish farmers from Ri-Bhoi

SHILLONG, Feb 5: A ‘technology demonstration-cum-input distribution’ programme on fish-based livelihood enhancement was organised for tribal fisherfolks from Ri-Bhoi recently.
According to a statement, the programme was organised by Fisheries Section (Division of Animal and Fisheries Science) in collaboration with Division of Technology Assessment and Capacity Building of ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Umiam under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).
The programme was attended by more than 30 tribal fish farmers, including 15 women, from the Umniuh Khwan and nearby villages.
Principal Secretary of Fisheries department, Dr Shakil P Ahammed, who was the chief guest during the programme, held interactions with the fish farmers.
Principal scientist from ICAR, Dr SK Das, explained to the gathering about the purpose of the programme and encouraged the participants to take up fish farming.
