Foundation laid for dairy complex in WJH

Jowai, Feb 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma laid down the foundation stone for construction of a new dairy complex at Mukha Umlangshor in West Jaintia Hills on Wednesday in the presence of local MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla and top officials of the Animal & Husbandry Department and also farmers of the area.

The project was undertaken under the National Programme for Dairy Development and the project cost worth over rupees 9 crores.

The 3 acre land for the construction site was donated free of cost by former Milk Union President of West Jaintia HIlls Late Phar Sari of Mukhla village.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister informed that over 200 crore have been sanction for Jowai Constituency and this amount include for beautification of Jowai town, contstruction and repair of road infrastructures besides other development project,

He said that the state government need to create 50, 000 jobs each year for unemployed educated youth which is a great challenge for the state government. He asserted that since it is very difficult to accommodate such huge number of youth in to government jobs, the government has a plan to involve them in various projects so that the youth of state are not jobless but to become entrepreneurs through such projects for their livelihood.

Local MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla said, “It is known fact that dairy industries in the district is a new means of livelihood and hope that the project will benefits the farmers in the district”.

He also informed that the Jaintia Milk Union has to bear around 77 lakhs for the project and the rest is being borne by the Government of India.
