TURA, Feb 10: Action is said to have been taken against two members of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) in North Garo Hills for allegedly misused the union’s letter pad to make personal demands from two business houses in Mendipathar, a post of which went viral recently.
The viral post showed letters issued to two separate business houses with the demand for 100 cartons of packaged drinking water from a factory and liquor from the Wasa Bonded Warehouse, both in Mendipathar.
While the demand for the packaged water was made by the general secretary, the demand for the liquor was issued by the chief organising secretary.
According to the president of the Northern Zone GSU, Landslord Momin, a meeting was held with regard to the matter on Thursday, following which action was taken against the two erring leaders. “We have taken action against two of our members who misused our letter pad without the consent of the president. Their memberships have been terminated,” Momin said on Thursday.
