SHILLONG, Feb 12: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong’s most sough-after annual event, Business Leadership Summit 2022, commenced on Saturday to continue the institute’s untiring effort to nurture business leaders. The event was inaugurated virtually in the presence of Director of IIM Shillong, Dr DP Goyal, besides Prof Sanjay Kakoty, Prof Sanjoy Mukherjee, and the student fraternity of the institute.
The Business Leadership Summit 2022 will host 29 speakers in various panels, viz. Consulting, Operations, System and Analytics, Finance and Investment, Marketing, and Human Resource.
During the inauguration ceremony, the proceedings started with a brief introduction of the event by Shrey Chheda, a student representative from the Student Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Sanjoy Mukherjee mentioned the seven leadership principles outlined by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Institute Director Dr DP Goyal, on the other hand, formally welcomed all the attendees.
The Director’s address was followed by Prof Sanjay Kakoty’s views on the topic ‘Leadership in Challenging Times’.
He discussed about the changing leadership landscape in the context of present global scenarios.
Kakoty mentioned that it is challenging that 10% of the population holds 90% of the total wealth and resources while the rest of 10% of wealth and resources are held by the remaining 90% of the population. He added that the wealth and resources disparity, rapid urbanization, and the problem of good food are a few of the present time challenges that the leaders of today are confronted with.
