SHILLONG, Feb 13: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is maintaining a close watch on the development in the Congress camp and is looking at welcoming the five MLAs aboard. “We are keeping a watch on the political ramifications,” party leader Mukul M Sangma said.
Some of the five Congress MLAs have reiterated that they will stick with the party till the 2023 Assembly elections unless the party decides otherwise. Others have already hinted at contesting the polls from the NPP or the United Democratic Party.
CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh had stated several MLAs may jump ship in June-July.
The AITC has been sending overtures to the five MLAs for crossing over. Not all are reportedly keen on doing so.
The NPP had also stated its doors were open for anyone keen on joining.
