SHILLONG, Feb 14: The five Congress MLAs have not officially merged with the MDA Government, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on Monday.
“The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has come forward to support the government. On our part we welcome the move,” Sangma told reporters.
According to him, the five Congress MLAs have made it very clear that they are supporting the government keeping in mind the larger interest of the state and the people.
“We are going through tough times when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic and the border issue, among many others. MLAs are motivated to work with us seeing the positive steps taken by the government to resolve these issues,” he said.
Asked about the decision of the AICC to suspend the five MLAs, Sangma said it was between the AICC and the MLAs.
“I have nothing to comment on what the party decides,” he added.
