CAB wants spectators for last two T20Is
Kolkata, Feb 14: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Thursday requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow spectators at Eden Gardens for the last two T20Is of the three-match series against West Indies. India and West Indies will lock horns in the T20I series at the Eden Gardens Kolkata from February 16. “The BCCI has allowed only upper tier and hospitality boxes for sponsors and representatives for the first match,” CAB said in a statement. The CAB has requested the BCCI to reconsider and allow spectators for the remaining matches. “CAB will intimate all stakeholders once it receives feedback from the board,” stated further. (ANI)
Smith expected to recover in a week
Sydney, Feb 14: Senior Australia batter Steve Smith is expected to make a full recovery within a week from his latest concussion episode and be available for the tour of Pakistan next month. Smith, who has a history of concussions, hit his head hard on the SCG turf in an audacious leaping attempt to stop a six near boundary rope in the second T20I against Sri Lanka which Australia won in Super Over on Sunday. His concussion diagnosis was confirmed late on Sunday and Cricket Australia (CA) said the 32-year-old will be subject to “low level protocols” over the coming days before an anticipated recovery within the week. Work begins on new NCA
Bengaluru, Feb 14: Work has begun on the country’s new National Cricket Academy (NCA) with the BCCI brass, including president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, laying the foundation stone of the complex here on Monday. The BCCI has secured the land on a 99-year lease. “The new National cricket Academy starts from today ..laid the foundation stone of the new place today in Bengaluru,” Ganguly tweeted. The new facility, which is expected to be ready in a year’s time, will have three grounds where domestic matches can be held. (PTI)
