2nd Div Football: Lumshyiap hand Mawryngkneng 2-1 loss

SHILLONG, Feb 14: Lumshyiap SC managed to register a narrow 2-1 win in their Shillong Sports Association Second Division football match against Mawryngkneng SC, here on Monday. Lumshyiap drew first blood in the 35th minute when Failbonson Lyngdoh found the back of the nets, to go into the break with the goal lead. Daminot Nongphlang then struck in the 64th to double Lumshyiap’s lead. However, Oliver Pale reduced the lead in the 84th minute for Mawryngkneng but Lumshyiap held on to grab three points. On Tuesday, Sohiong SC take on Nongkrem SC at 2:45 pm.

Indian Volleyball League to kick-start in June ’22

BHUBANESHWAR, Feb 14: The Volleyball Federation of India has announced the inaugural season of the Indian Volleyball League (IVL) in partnership with Eurosport India, an event that is expected to be an annual feature. Viewers will be able to live stream the league on the Discovery+ app. Scheduled to kick-start around June-July 2022, the IVL proposes to have six to eight new franchises representing various cities across India. Teams will have a mix of top players from the Indian national team along with talents from various states besides a host of top international players in its roster for the inaugural season.

Super Div Cricket: NFU claim 4-wicket win vs Nongmensong

SHILLONG, Feb 14: NFU registered an exciting 4-wicket win over Nongmensong in their Shillong Cricket Association Super Division match, here on Monday. Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Nongmensong were bowled out for 163 in 38.2 overs with Amit Bhatewara’s knock of 52 being the highest score. Player-of-the-Match Raj Biswa claimed figures of 3/33 from 8 overs while Neetesh Sharma took 3/25 from his quota of 8 overs. NFU then knocked off the required target of 164 in 35 overs, losing six wickets in the process. After his performance with the ball, Raj shone with the bat too, scoring 45 runs off 32 balls. Raghav Magotra took 2/19.
