Nongstoin, Feb 17: Meghalaya Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma today inaugurated the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) Nursing School located at Mawkadiang, Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills.
The programme was also attended by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat, Director Health and Services (MI) Dr A War besides others.
The GNM Nursing school was constructed in November 2014 and was completed in 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs 337.85 lakh.
Earlier, the CM laid the foundation stone for the construction of Sibsingh Memorial Government Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin.
The estimated cost for the project is Rs 4.47 crore.
The CM lauded the contribution made by this school and said the institution has produced many leaders from West Khasi Hills like local MLA M Byrsat.
Sangma also distributed cheques to 77 Producer Groups (PGs) which include — eight PGs from Mawthadraishan and 69 PGs from Nongstoiñ Block.
Financial support amounting to Rs. 71,85,000 will be given to the PGs, covering total households of 1437.
