1st Div Cricket: Sporting CC off to winning start

SHILLONG, Feb 17: Sporting CC kicked-off their Shillong Cricket Association First Division campaign with a 4-wicket victory over Occult CC, here on Thursday after an all-round performance by Player-of-the-Match Manish Sharma. Earlier, Occult CC won the toss and chose to bat first before they were bundled out for 103 in 29.2 overs. Vijay sharma was the top-scorer with 27 runs. Manish bowled an excellent spell, finishing with figures of 4/14 from his 7 overs while Rahul Paul took 2/4 in 2.2 overs. In reply, Sporting CC knocked off the required target of 104 losing six wickets in 21.4 overs. Rahul Hazarika anchored the innings with a run-a-ball knock of 33 while Manish also contributed with the bat, making 19 off 22 balls. Pankaj Sah took 4/31 from 6.4 overs.
