Shillong, Feb 21: The absence of a permanent solution to the garbage disposal problem in Jowai has become a cause of annoyance for the residents of the town

The constant protests over the temporary landfill at Thadmusem under Nartiang has left the Jowai Municipal Board in a catch 22 situation.

Tonnes of garbage lie piled up in Iawmusiang market opposite the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Jowai.

At present, the people of Jowai will have to bear the foul stench as the district administration and, the municipal board continue to search for a permanent landfill site.
