Govt calls bids for enhanced parking facilities in city

SHILLONG, Feb 21: The Meghalaya government has invited bids for retrofitting and upgrade of three multi-level calendar parking at different locations of Shillong under Smart City mission.
The designated parking lots, which are set for bidding are located in Mawlonghat, Anjalee area and Khlieh Lew and will be built at a total cost of Rs 46 crore.
Earlier, the government had also invited bids for design, build, operation, maintenance and transfer of mechanised multi-level car parking at Motphran here under Shillong Smart City mission, which involved an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore.
It may be mentioned that there has been growing demand for multi-level parking lots in Shillong city, particularly in view of the ever-increasing number of vehicles.
Moreover, the situation in Shillong at present is so bad that it is difficult to even find a parking place for vehicles.
