2nd Div Football: Laitkyrhong demolish Wahingdoh 5-1

SHILLONG, Feb 23: Laitkyrhong destroyed Wahingdoh 5-1 in their Shillong Sports Association Second Division Group B football match, here on Wednesday. The result left Wahingdoh at the bottom of the table, behind Laitkyrhong. Both sides were winless this season going in to the match. Mara Khongwet scored the opening goal in the 45th minute to give Laitkyrhong a 1-0 lead at the break. However, the onslaught began in the second half with Bilingstar Kurkalang making it 2-0 in the 50th. Wahingdoh pulled one back in the 59th minute through Shemborlang Kharumnuid but the margin was increased in the 74th minute when Shemborlang scored his second goal. Samuel Suting (82′) made it 4-1 before an own goal by Wahingdoh saw them suffer a 1-5 defeat. On Thursday, Mawryngkneng will face Jongksha at 2:45 pm. The game had earlier been postponed owing to bad weather in January.
