MAWKYRWAT, Feb 25: Taking the joining of former Assembly Speaker and five times MLA, MM Danggo along with three times MDC and former CEM of KHADC, Manstudy Nongrem and their team as a good omen for the party, NPP president of the South West Khasi Hills district committee, Kitborlang Nongrem said that the party is hopeful of winning the upcoming general elections from Ranikor in 2023.
Speaking to media persons on Friday after constituting the Adhoc Committee of the NPP Mawkyrwat Block Committee, Nongrem said that the joining of Danggo and his team to the party was something that the leaders and supporters of the NPP Ranikor constituency were waiting for.
“Actually the NPP Ranikor had planned to meet Danggo to invite him to rejoin the party, and I have said many times that the door of the NPP Ranikor will always be open for Danggo. Now we are very happy that he has rejoined our party, and we hope that we will achieve many things together,” Nongrem said.
Noting that unity within the party is of paramount importance if they are to register their victory, the NPP leader said, “If we are united, we have high hope of winning the next general election especially after seeing that many leaders from Ranikor area, like Kong Pelcy Snaitang and others are joining the party. However, we should not take it for granted, but we should work hard so that we can achieve the goal.”
Nongrem has also appealed to the leaders and supporters of the NPP to remain united so that together they can win the election.
Asked about the party organisation in Ranikor constituency, Nongrem said that there is no problem for the NPP to reconstitute the NPP Ranikor Block Committee because there are no differences between his team and the team led by Danggo.
Meanwhile, days after the president of the NPP Mawkyrwat Block Committee Rowell Lyngdoh resigned as the president, resulting in the dissolution of the whole Block Committee, the Executive Committee of the NPP South West Khasi Hills District on Friday constituted an Adhoc Committee.
The new committee will now run under the leadership of A Nongrem as the Adhoc President, Deling Snaitang and Badskhemshisha Marwein as Secretaries, Lamphrangton Lyngkhoi as Treasurer and 25 members of the Executive Committee.
