TURA, Feb 27: United Democratic Party (UDP) MDC from Batabari in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Ashahel D Shira, has filed an FIR with the Officer in charge of Chandmary Beat House in Tura, over a fake account on Facebook allegedly created in his name and with his picture.
“A fake Facebook account has been created using my name and picture. A false statement was posted through the account which is spreading like wildfire and the same could create misunderstandings between the Dalbot Mahari, the pressure groups and the general public,” Ashahel D Shira said in the FIR.
It may be mentioned that the FB post in the MDC’s name earlier had targeted the Dalbot Mahari.
Shira urged the police to immediately initiate an inquiry into the matter and trace the IP address from where the fake account was created.
Meanwhile, a similar FIR was also filed by MDC and Deputy CEM, Nikman Ch Marak, on Saturday over a fake account created in his name. The fake account had earlier uploaded a post ridiculing the protesting pressure groups over the burning of the MDC’s effigy.
