NONGSTOIN, March 1: Expressing disappointment over the slowdown of ‘two main projects’ in his constituency, Nongstoin MLA, Macmillan Byrsat on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to consider the allocation of fund for the duo.
The projects in question here are the construction of Polytechnic at Mawrusiyar, Nongstoin and commissioning of the Nongstoin Urban Water Supply scheme.
In a press statement, Byrsat mentioned that the construction of the academic institute, which began in 2018, is so far down with 60% of the construction.
However, partial funds from the department have brought its development to an indefinite halt.
Similarly, the Nongstoin Urban Supply Scheme has been put off due to unavailability of sanctioned funds for the remaining work.
It may be mentioned that the project of Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme was started back in 2010, but even after twelve years of on-and-off construction, the project has failed to see the light of day.
Highlighting the fact that both of the above projects are of pivotal importance to the student and local communities of Nongstoin, the MLA thus made it a point to request the state chief minister to address the full-fledged completion of the two projects at the earliest.
