SHILLONG, March 3: A programme on ‘Post-Harvest Management – an introduction to Sabjee Cooler in Meghalaya in collaboration with RuKart’ was organised by the Bethany Society here on Friday. RuKart is a start-up founded by alumni of IIT Bombay.
During the programme, RuKart founder Vikash Jha and co-founder Sharayu Kulkarni disseminated the technical knowledge at the event.
Chairman of Meghalaya Farmers (Empowerment) Commission, KN Kumar, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Government officials from various departments including BK Sohliya, Executive Advisor, Meghalaya Farmer (Empowerment) Commission, M Lakiang, District Horticulture Officer, M Tariang, Administrative Officer, MSSDS, R Kynta, Chief Operating Officer, MSRLS, N Guite, General Manager of NABARD, were also present.
The purpose of the ‘Sabjee Cooler’ is to create a platform for farmers and their market linkages as part of post-harvest management, according to a statement.
Farmers from various villages were present for the introduction entailing the technical knowledge required for the ‘Sabjee Cooler’ as well as the inauguration.
After the inauguration, the Sabjee Coolers were handed over to the clustered farmer locations — Sawsymper–Mawsynram Block, Khliehshnong – Sohra (East Khasi Hills) and Tebronggre (West Garo Hills) — supported by Bethany Society.
