SHILLONG, March 5: After Cantonment police reportedly put up signboards claiming that a patch of land in Lummawbah area belongs to them, the Rangbah Shnong of Lummawbah has decided to soon meet the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner to resolve the confusion.
Secretary of the Lummawbah Rangbah Shnong, Arju Dkhar, said that the locality has received a project from the Union government for construction of a sports stadium, but the Cantonment has claimed ownership of the aforementioned.
“The matter is in the DC’s court now. We will try to meet the DC shortly,” he said.
He also said that both the Shnong and the Cantonment will try to resolve the issue amicably. Incidentally, the signboards were removed on Friday. While some provocative banners were, regardless, put up, these were later removed from the site.
