SHILLONG, March 5: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president, Banteidor Lyngdoh rubbished reports that its MLAs were keen on joining the National People’s Party.
This is a rumour being spread to show the party in a poor light, he said.
“All MLAs will contest from the PDF and we will go into election mode after the Budget session of the Assembly, going from district to district to strengthen the party and the existing zonal committees,” Lyngdoh said on Saturday.
He claimed the PDF will get more seats in the 60-member House than in 2018, as it has been working hard for the past four years to address the issues of the people.
“We are doing the best to serve the people and we will continue to do so. Our party ideology is to protect, preserve and serve the people,” the PDF chief said.
The PDF is part of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance and has four MLAs.
There have been speculations that the PDF legislators would join NPP after the party’s MDC from Umsning, Macdalyne S. Mawlong joined the NPP.
