SHILLONG, March 6: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) will on Monday raise the issue of illegal cattle smuggling to Bangladesh during the ongoing Budget session.
Opposition Chief Whip, George B Lyngdoh, will raise a short duration on the issue of illegal smuggling and its impacts.
When contacted, Lyngdoh said he will raise the issue as the state government is yet to address the same.
He also informed that he will flag various issues resulting from the illegal cattle smuggling, including the increase in the market price of beef.
Many meat sellers have complained about the inadequate supply of cattle as the same is being sold to people in Bangladesh at a very high price.
According to them, the smugglers sell the cattle to Bangladesh and earn Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 more of what they would earn here.
The meat sellers have maintained that they, in view of these factors, are coerced into selling beef at a higher price here.
