1st Division Cricket: Matri Sangha snatch narrow win vs Young Guns

SHILLONG, March 9: Matri Sangha secured a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Young Guns CC despite some jitters, in their Shillong Cricket Association First Division match, here on Wednesday.
Earlier, Young Guns won the toss and decided to bat first but were dismissed for 159 in 34.4 overs following some tight bowling. Mickey, with 34 runs off 51 balls, was the highest scorer while Beeru contributed 31 runs to take their side past the 150-run mark.
Matri Sangha was backed up by some tight bowling by Sunny, who finished figures of 3/29 from 7 overs and Player-of-the-Match Kishor Bhowmik who was economical, taking 2/15 in his 7 overs.
Matri Sangha started off their chase on a disastrous note, losing its first 7 wickets for just 98 runs before being reduced to 121/9.
However, a crucial last wicket partnership of 39 runs between Kishor (33) and Suraj Chettri (17*) took the team to their target of 160 runs off the very last ball of their sides’ innings (35th over).
Coming at number 5, Babai was the second highest scorer for Matri Sangha with a knock of 30 runs. Beeru took 3/29 in 6 overs while Magnus finished with 2/8 from 5 overs.
