TURA, March 19: A day after a complaint by one Probash Sangma, the apparent Chief Election Commissioner for the GSU – Western Zone (West), over what he termed as illegal appointment of new GSU members under the Phulbari unit, the members of the zone have questioned the authority of Sangma on the matter.
In a release on Saturday, secretary of the Union asked as to who appointed Probash as the CEC when he clearly was not. “The Phulbari unit has been cooperating with the Raksamgre Western Zone (West) after its creation so how come Probash can be made CEC by the Western Zone Dadenggre without any consultation with us. His appointment is illegal and will only help in creating bad blood between all concerned. They are trying to misinform the public through this stunt,” said secretary, Tengroang Sangma. The secretary further stressed that the Phulbari unit came under its purview and had nothing to do with the GSU Western Zone (North) Dadenggre. The Union alleged that the intention was to malign the image of the organisation and to create divisions within the community for their own self interest.
“This malafide act is an attempt to sabotage the peaceful coexistence of GSU Western Zone West and GSU Phulbari regional unit. We vehemently oppose such immature and unethical propaganda,” said the release while asking people of the area to not believe such propaganda.
