Dr Shyam Babu Sharma has been conferred with Rashtra Bhasha Bhushan award for 2021. A statement in this regard informed that Sharma, who is an intellect and writer, has authored over a dozen of books on the culture, language and discourses. “His excellent writings in various aspects of globalisation have made a national identity. It is noteworthy that the state of Meghalaya bagged this honour first time,” the statement added.

Clarification
The Rangbah Dong of Demseiñiong has clarified that the alleged assault case of one of the FKJGP members and three others did not take place in the locality. In a statement here on Friday, he said the incident took place at Saw Furlong, which falls under Pasteur Beat House. He added that the Dorbar Shnong Demseiñiong is under the Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun, which falls under Laitumkhrah police station and Nongmensong police outpost.
