Pressure groups destroy Assam boundary pillars

NONGSTOIN, March 28: Members of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) and the Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) on Monday uprooted boundary pillars erected by Assam at Kamphoduli village under Langpih sector in Meghalaya.
The pressure groups have alleged that Assam had illegally erected boundary pillars in Kamphoduli, Nongmawlein, Umbyrsit and Mawiamsyiem villages under Langpih area on Saturday.
HSPDP president and former MLA of Rambrai-Jyrngam, KP Pangniang inspected these villages on Monday and confirmed that a survey team from Assam had erected boundary pillars on Meghalaya soil.
He said that villagers in the Langpih sector were against the move by the Assam government and threatened to destroy all the boundary pillars.
