Hit-and-run case
A body of an unidentified male was found lying on a deserted section of the NH-6 at Ialong village on Saturday evening, which is being suspected to be a hit-and-run case. After autopsy, the body has been kept at Jowai Civil Hospital morgue room but has not been claimed till date. In this connection, a case has been registered with Jowai Police Station for further investigation. The body is approximately 5.2-ft tall, with black hair and round face. The body was found wearing a black pant and jacket. There also was a burn mark on the body’s chest.
Office-bearers
The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Monday formed its coordination committee in South Garo Hills. In a statement, AITC state president Charles Pyngrope announced Dr Saljagringrang Marak as the convener while Chusrang Sangma and Barkulline Marak were appointed as coordinators.
The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association (SSASA) on Sunday held its annual general meeting at Assam Kristi Kendra, Dhankheti, during which members for a new executive committee were elected. According to a statement, Surajeet Hazarika was elected as president, Mastakfir Rehman and Darshana Priyam as vice presidents, Mrigankar Das as general secretary, Sushanta Sarmah Bordoloi and Ayushmi Kashyap as assistant general secretaries, among others.
Clarification
The Mizo Modern Higher Secondary School principal has clarified that the school has not appointed anyone to collect any donation in any form from any person. The clarification has been issued after it came to the knowledge of the principal about some people allegedly collecting money as donation in the name of the school.
Inauguration
The newly constructed motorable bridge at Umpling will be inaugurated on March 31, at 10.30 am, Dorbar Shnong Umpling has informed. Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, is set to become the chief guest of the occasion.
