NONGPOH, March 31: Former UDP MDC from Nongpoh constituency, Rona Khymdeit, will contest the upcoming Assembly elections on a Congress ticket.
This was announced by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala on Thursday.
Khymdeit on Thursday joined the Indian National Congress along with other members of the UDP during a programme at Indoor Stadium, Nongpoh.
During the programme, Pala informed that Khymdeit will contest the upcoming Assembly elections on a Congress ticket on the recommendations of the Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee.
Talking to media persons, he also expressed hope that the Congress will emerge victorious in all the five constituencies of Ri Bhoi as many learned leaders are joining the party.
Meanwhile, reacting to the announcement made by the MPCC president, an optimistic Khymdeit said that since the party has reposed faith in her, she will leave no stone unturned to triumph over her political opponents.
After the programme, the Congress leaders also protested against the soaring price of essential commodities across the country.
