Nongstoin MLA for adherence to DPR for road construction
NONGSTOIN, April 5: Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat on Tuesday urged the Executive Engineer PWD (Roads) to ensure adherence to the components of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of the 7-km Sohpian-Nongstoin road. In a statement issued here, Byrsat said that only recently a delegation of headmen and NGO leaders called on him and alleged that the contractor entrusted with the construction work of the Sohpian-Nongstoin road does not adhere to the components of the DPR. Byrsat has also urged the contractor/firm concerned to follow the instructions in the DPR and ensure that the project is properly implemented.

Action sought against contractor
TURA, April 5: The All A’chik Youth Federation (AAYF) in Rajabala has sought action against a contractor over anomaly in a road construction project. Under the project, which was sanctioned in 2016, blacktopping work was to be conducted on a road from Rajabala to Jongnagre at Batabari village. In their complaint to West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh, the AAYF accused the contractor of submitting the completion report for payment without completing the work on the 16-km road. The Federation, besides seeking action against the contractor, also urged the DC to look into the matter and ensure that the blacktopping of the road is completed at the earliest.
