SHILLONG, April 5: Strong objection has been raised by Dorbar Shnong Laban against painting of ‘No Parking’ sign after removing the name of the road, ‘Krep Sing Swer Road’, inscribed on the wall in a locality of Laban. The Dorbar had named the road in memory of its former Rangbah Shnong who is no longer with them.
The Dorbar alleged that besides the ‘No Parking’ sign, a warning sign for violators was also painted.
On learning about this, residents wasted no time in informing the members of the Dorbar Shnong including the Rangbah Shnong, Edward Kharwanlang, expressing their resentment on the action of the traffic police.
Speaking to reporters, Rangbah Shnong E Kharwanlang said that the traffic personnel of Laban Police Station have denied their involvement in the matter.
Laban PS officer-in-charge, MR Marak, also clarified that the traffic police would discuss with the Dorbar Shnong before painting such a sign in the locality.
It was also suspected that this was the handiwork of one of the residents.
