Governor Satya Pal Malik has declared April 11 as a local holiday for banks and financial institutions in East Khasi Hills on account of Shad Suk Mynsiem.

Office-bearers
The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has constituted a coordination committee in West Garo Hills in its ongoing bid to bolster the party. This was informed by AITC state president Charles Pyngrope. According to a statement, Richard M Marak has been appointed as the convenor of the committee while Safford N Sangma and Chea N Sangma have been elected as coordinators.

Cultural fest
National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya, will organise its annual cultural festival, SHISHIR 2022, from April 9 to 11 at Bijni Complex, Laitumkhrah. The institute has invited colleges and universities from Shillong to participate in the fest.

Condolence
The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association has condoled the demise of former Rajya Sabha member, Robert Kharshiing, who breathed his last on Thursday. AITC leader Miani Shira, too, condoled the demise of the former MP. In a statement, she said, “Deeply saddened about the untimely demise of Robert Kharshiing, former MLA and Rajya Sabha MP. His hard work and contributions to the people and the state as a whole shall be remembered.”

Dry day
The West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has declared dry day in the district on April 15 on account of Good Friday. “All IMFL licensed premises (wholesale and retail sale) bars, canteens, country spirit shops including outstills shall remain closed on the above-mentioned date,” a statement in this regard said.
