SHILLONG, April 10: With BJP Meghalaya in-charge, M Chuba Ao, in the driver’s seat, the saffron brigade is all set to begin its election campaign starting Monday.
Ao is expected to steer the BJP unit in Meghalaya through the nooks and crannies of various districts of the state hoping to strengthen its support base.
“On Monday, our in-charge Chuba Ao will have a meeting in Jowai after that he will interact with the district committee, Jowai mandal, and then he will hold a general meeting with public,” informed state BJP chief, Ernest Mawrie, adding that elections are just few months away and they need to strengthen the support base of the party.
The state BJP president also said that this is first time that Ao will be visiting Jaintia Hills to interact with the people.
According to Mawrie, Ao will visit four mandals on Tuesday in Shillong — 19 South mandal, 18 West mandal, 17 North mandal and 16 Pynthormukhrah mandal — and interact with party functionaries.
The party’s Meghalaya in-charge is slated to hold a public meeting at Shella, East Khasi Hills, on April 13.
“This is being done to strengthen the party keeping in view the upcoming Assembly polls,” Mawrie added.
