NONGSTOIN, April 16: Over 50 Nongstoin-based producer groups were provided monetary support under FOCUS programme during a programme held recently.
The programme was attended by Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat and West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PD Sangma who distributed cheques to producer groups.
Nongstoin MLA, in his address, informed that FOCUS is Meghalaya’s biggest farmer’s welfare programme initiated in a bid to provide direct funding to producer groups.
He said the government has been providing monetary aid to the farmers so that the latter can improve their produce, which, Byrsat added, in turn will help improve their lifestyle.
He called upon the farmers to ensure that the funds received should be channeled properly.
