SHILLONG, April 27: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said the state government was examining the demands of the ad hoc teachers.
“We are concerned about the non-cooperation movement launched by the ad hoc teachers but it won’t be easy for the government to fulfill their demands since it will involve huge financial implications,” Sangma said.
The CM, meanwhile, disclosed that the government has approved a proposal to construct 200 lower primary school buildings and renovate over 1,800 schools in the state.
“The total cost will be around Rs 170 crore. We will sanction funds for improvement of the school infrastructure through various sources,” he added.
In another development, Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASTOM) president, Kenneth Shadap has decided to resign from his post.
In his resignation letter submitted to the FASTOM general secretary and vice president on Wednesday, Shadap said he decided to resign to pave way for election of a new leader.
