Indefinite ban on pig import in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT, April 27: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, C Kharkongor, on Wednesday indefinitely banned import of pigs and piglets from other districts.
The directive comes in the wake Umshorshor village under Umsning Block of Ri-Bhoi district being declared as the epicentre of African Swine Fever outbreak.
The DC also said that the directive has been issued in order to avert a possible outbreak of African Swine Fever in South West Khasi Hills district.
