SHILLONG, April 29: The Eastern Air Command, Shillong on Friday felicitated Indian Air Force personnel involved in the Deoghar ropeway rescue operations carried out at Trikut, Jharkhand earlier this month.
The rescue operation carried out at Deoghar was one of the most challenging operations undertaken by the IAF as it was not only time sensitive but also required a high level of coordination amongst various defence, central and state forces. The site was located in a remote area away from any major town or defence establishment and had tough geographical conditions, which added to the complexity of the operation.
Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal DK Patnaik, felicitated the brave air warriors and praised their heroic efforts. He said that his heart swelled with pride as they made the entire nation proud by their actions.
