‘29 killed in EJH road mishaps since 2021’

SHILLONG, May 5: As many as 29 people have lost their lives since 2021 to date in road accidents in East Jaintia Hills.
According to a statement from East Jaintia Hills Police, road mishaps in the district have seen an upward trend of late in view of overspeeding and negligence.
“The district police urges the general public, especially the young drivers of both four and two-wheelers, to not indulge in reckless and dangerous driving, which endangers not only the lives of the drivers and passengers inside the vehicle but also puts the lives of other commuters and pedestrians at risk,” the EJH Police said.
It has been also informed that the district police will conduct intensive checks, and those found indulging in overspeeding, drunken driving, among other violations, will be dealt as per law.
