TURA, May 10: GHADC MDC from Rongrong Rinaldo K Sangma has asked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to release funds for completion of 100-bed Civil Hospital at Resubelpara, the work on which has been pending.
According to the Rongrong MDC, it was revealed during an inquiry that work on the project, which began in March 2019, came to a grinding halt since last year after the release of funds to the contractor concerned stopped.
Reiterating the immediate need to hvae the hospital completed, Sangma pointed out that Resubelpara and Rongrong have just one community health centre, which caters to the entire population of the region.
“Simple cases of accidents and deliveries are seldom handled at the CHC and are referred to Tura or Goalpara in Assam due to the unavailability of equipment and specialised medical personnel. Expectant mothers are compelled to travel the long distance to Goalpara or even Guwahati,” Sangma said.
