Students of 15 WKH schools get free study lamps

NONGSTOIN, May 12: Free solar study lamps were distributed aong students of as many as 15 schools in West Khasi Hills district by the office of the Meghalaya New & Renewable Energy Development Agency, West Khasi Hills.
The distribution programme was held at TRYSEM Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s office here which was attended by Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat as the chief guest.
Altogether 3,000 lamps were provided to students of class VIII to X.
In his address, Macmillan Byrsat pointed out that children who live in areas with erratic or no power supply will benefit greatly from solar study lamps.
West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PD Sangma, District Project Officer, Elizabeth Kharjana, besides students and teachers were among others who attended the programme.
