NEHU holds curtain-raiser to International Yoga Day

SHILLONG, May 13: Students, particularly NSS volunteers, from different educational institutes of Shillong came together for a programme on Friday to raise the curtain on the International Yoga Day celebrations.
According to a statement, the programme was organised by the NSS Cell of NEHU in collaboration with the Meghalaya Yog Samiti, Shillong.
Demonstration and practice of the Common Yoga Protocol by a team of Meghalaya Yog Samiti, presentation on Yoga Asanas for sports, and distribution of certificates to the participants were some of the highlights of the programme.
Outreach activity
The office of the Regional Outreach Bureau, Shillong, along with the Field Outreach Bureau, Nongstoin, organised an outreach activity on yoga at JNV School, Mawphlang, on Friday.
The event, which was attended by students, teachers and staff of the school, was organised to promote various dimensions of yoga.
Painting and quiz competitions, and sessions on yoga awareness were also organised as part of the programme.
Similar sessions on yoga were also organised by the Doordarshan Kendra Shillong and Tura for their office staff at the respective Doordarshan Studio Complex.
Awareness programme
The Field Outreach Bureau, Tura, also conducted an awareness programme on ‘Countdown to International Day of Yoga, 2022, and Common Yoga Protocol Practice’ at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Secondary School, Tura.
During the programme, the attendees were informed about the benefits of yoga.
The participants also performed yoga under the guidance of Dr. Sambu Aryal, Yoga and Naturopathy Physician (AYUSH), Tura Civil Hospital.
