Guv becomes charity trust prez
SHILLONG, May 15: Governor Satya Pal Malik was inducted as the president of the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Branch, during a programme at the Raj Bhavan to celebrate World Red Cross Day on May 13. School and college students performed at the function. Later, the annual general meeting of the society was convened wherein new members of the managing body were elected for the term 2022-2025. The new members include River O Wallang, retired IFS (chairman), Lt. Col. Dr Shailesh Kumar (vice chairman), Amelia Swer [vice chairman (E)], Pradip Chokhani (treasurer), besides other executive members.

Zonal Youth Convention ends
TURA, May 15: The 14th Zonal Youth Convention, 2022 under the theme “Youth for a Synodal Church” which was held for three days from May 13 concluded at Walbakgre in Tura on Sunday. The convention which resumed after a break of two years due to covid-19 was attended by around 250 youths. Fr. Thomas C John, the Principal of St. Mary’s Hr Sec. School inaugurated the programme and delivered the key note address on Synodal Church. Former National ICYM President, Ms, Jyotsna D Souza from Vasai, Miss Magdalene, Regional President from Manipur and Miss Alva, YCS/YSM Regional President from Shillong also graced the occasion and shared their journey towards their Youth ministry. During the three day convention, activities like Debate on the Catholic Church, Quiz, Bible Skit and Rosary Procession were held. The convention also saw talks delivered by Fr. Jogesh D. Sangma, Junior College Principal, Don Bosco College and Fr. Lyndoh T. Sangma, the youth Director of the Diocese.

Workshop on yoga at MLCU
SHILLONG, May 15: In the run-up to the International Yoga Day on June 21, a workshop on yoga was organised by the NSS Unit of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) in collaboration with the office of the Dean of Students, MLCU, on Friday. Eugenia Davida Hek, RYS 200 Yoga Teacher and Proprietor of Escape Yoga Studio provided an interactive session on the benefits and myths of yoga. Demonstrations of basic yoga were presented during the workshop and volunteers, students and faculty members exhibited active participation.
