SHILLONG, May 19: After 25 years of basking in the glory of his beloved bastion, Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek would have to battle a possibly tough foe in the upcoming Assembly elections, his nephew Rocky Hek. But what is being expected to be an interesting political clash may just be resolved within the family, if one is to take into account Hek’s stand on what has transpired of late.
Refusing to comment much on the challenge, Hek, on Thursday, said that it is a family matter which would be resolved within the family.
The BJP MLA said that he has been asked by his family and clan to not discuss anything on the subject outside.
It may be noted that if the ‘Hek-vs-Hek’ hype scaled the last mile, it would be one of rare phenomena in state politics where blood relations lock horns for a seat.
Rocky Hek had recently announced that he would contest the Assembly polls on NPP ticket against his own uncle to vie for Pynthorumkhrah Constituency, which has been AL Hek’s stronghold for years.
The contender, Rocky Hek, had even pointed out that there has been lack of development in the constituency and that there is a need to change the MLA.
