Broiler chicken rates revised

SHILLONG, May 24: New retail prices of broiler chicken were announced on Tuesday by the All Meghalaya Poultry Suppliers and Retailers Association.
President of the association, Wanshailang Kharshandi, informed media persons that a kg of live broiler chicken will cost Rs 220, while a dressed chicken would now cost Rs 320 per kg.
The new rates will be effective across the state from June 1, he said, adding that the new price was agreed upon by the association after taking into consideration the overall impact it would have on all consumers, buyers and retailers alike. The association has also sought the cooperation of public in their decision to revise the rates.
Kharshandi also said that new registration for all suppliers and retailers of poultry products will take place in a bid to even out competition in the market.
