NONGPOH, May 27: A lifeless body of a man, reportedly in his 50s, was found sitting on a chair at his workstation in Ri-Bhoi. What does raise eyebrows is that the victim, who was working as an operator at the Byrnihat Oxygen Plant, had injury marks on his head.
Sources from the police informed that the man, identified as Ramprasad Neogi, had been working at the factory for almost 20 years.
On Thursday night, Neogi came to the factory at around 10 pm for his duty and went directly to the pump room and was engaged in maintaining the register.
However, it was around 11:30 pm when a security guard at the factory, who was conducting regular checks, found the body of Neogi lying on the chair with injury marks on the head.
The Ri-Bhoi police, who are suspecting a murder angle in the case, have registered a case and subsequently initiated an investigation.
Police also informed that the co-workers of the deceased have been detained for interrogation.
