‘Nongstoin-Sohpian road needs attention’

NONGSTOIN, May 30: A follow-up inspection of the 7-km Nongstoin-Sohpian road carried out by the Executive Engineer PWD National Highway on Monday has revealed that some portions of the road still need expansion.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) along with members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo Peoples (FKJGP) West Khasi Hills District.
Speaking to the press after the inspection, Executive Engineer, PWD National Highway, F Umdor, said that he had earlier inspected the road and found that it was not up to the mark as mentioned in the DPR.
He asked the contractor to extend the road and during Monday’s inspection he wanted to check whether the road was fit as mentioned in the detailed project report.
He further said there are some portions of the road that still need expansion and he has instructed the contractor to complete the work.
