POWERGRID holds events
SHILLONG, May 31: As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada 2022, POWERGRID Shillong has organised a slew of programmes, including awareness on cleanliness and hygiene, cleaning drives, distribution of garbage bins and eco-friendly carry bags, et al. According to a statement, as part of the Swachhta Pakhwada, garbage bins were given away to Shillong Civil Hospital and NEIGHRIMS, masks, handwash and soaps were distributed among schoolchildren, cotton bags were provided to small-time vendors, and road campaign on promotion of cleanliness was organised. It may be mentioned that POWERGRID Shillong is also organising similar programmes in other Northeastern states.

IBSD’s field training in EKH
SHILLONG, May 31: The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Node, Meghalaya in association with Institute of Natural Resources, Meghalaya, conducted a field training on Gaultheria fragrantissima (Fragrant Wintergreen; locally known as Jathynrait and Lathynrait) on Tuesday under Himalayan Bioresource Mission at Mawbeh, East Khasi Hills. A statement in this regard informed that IBSD is organising a series of similar events to promote local traditional medicinal plants, cultivation aiming for livelihood generation.

Awareness on health, hygiene
SHILLONG, May 31: Locals of Nongmadan Shadsngi village in Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, were provided awareness on health and hygiene during a programme organised by AROH Foundation and HDFC Bank Ltd in collaboration with Health department. According to a statement, a health camp also organised for the villagers as part of the programme.
